Hug – squeeze (someone) tightly in one’s arms, typically to express affection.

Heat – the quality of being hot; high temperature.

Heart – a hollow muscular organ that pumps the blood through the circulatory system by rhythmic contraction and dilation. In vertebrates there may be up to four chambers (as in humans), with two atria and two ventricles.

Hat – a shaped covering for the head worn for warmth, as a fashion item, or as part of a uniform.

Hammer – a tool with a heavy metal head mounted at right angles at the end of a handle, used for jobs such as breaking things and driving in nails.

Hair – any of the fine threadlike strands growing from the skin of humans, mammals, and some other animals.

Handbag – a small bag used by a woman to carry everyday personal items.

Handy – convenient to handle or use; useful.

Happy – feeling or showing pleasure or contentment.

Hardly – scarcely (used to qualify a statement by saying that it is true to an insignificant degree).

Harm – physical injury, especially that which is deliberately inflicted.

Harmful – causing or likely to cause harm.

Harsh – unpleasantly rough or jarring to the senses.

Harvest – the process or period of gathering in crops.

Haven – a place of safety or refuge.

Herd – a large group of animals, especially hoofed mammals, that live together or are kept together as livestock.

Heroic – having the characteristics of a hero or heroine; admirably brave or determined.

Herself – used as the object of a verb or preposition to refer to a female person or animal previously mentioned as the subject of the clause.

Hexagon – a plane figure with six straight sides and angles.

Hiccup – an involuntary spasm of the diaphragm and respiratory organs, with a sudden closure of the glottis and a characteristic gulping sound.

High-Tech – using, requiring, or involved in high technology.

Hinge – a movable joint or mechanism on which a door, gate, or lid swings as it opens and closes or which connects linked objects.

Hint – a slight or indirect indication or suggestion.

Hipster – a person who follows the latest trends and fashions, especially those regarded as being outside the cultural mainstream.

Hockey – a team game played between two teams of eleven players each, using hooked sticks with which the players try to drive a small hard ball towards goals at opposite ends of a field. In North America it is called field hockey to distinguish it from ice hockey.

Hole – a hollow place in a solid body or surface.

Hollow – having a hole or empty space inside.

Homeless – (of a person) without a home, and therefore typically living on the streets.

Homemade – made at home, rather than in a shop or factory.

Honest – free of deceit; truthful and sincere.

Honor – high respect; great esteem.

Hood – a covering for the head and neck with an opening for the face, typically forming part of a coat or cloak.

Hoodie – a hooded sweatshirt, jacket, or other top.

Hope – a feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen.

Hopeless – feeling or causing despair.

Horizon – the line at which the earth’s surface and the sky appear to meet.

Horn – a hard permanent outgrowth, often curved and pointed, found in pairs on the heads of cattle, sheep, goats, giraffes, etc. and consisting of a core of bone encased in keratinized skin.
